Biography
Dr. H. Gin Chong, Professor of Accounting at Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU), is best known for his research work on audit risk and materiality, earnings management, ethical and compliance issues, fraud and forensic investigations, health and safety, insurance accounting, measuring firms’ performances, and oil and gas accounting and auditing. He has published widely at top scholarly journals, presented findings at national and international conferences, and received external research funding, grants, and awards. Dr. Chong has developed an international accounting course for undergraduates in 2008, a global accounting course for graduate students in 2008, and an oil and gas accounting course in 2010. Before teaching at PVAMU, Dr. Chong taught at a university in the United Kingdom and was trained and worked with one of the Big Four firms of accountants in Malaysia. Based on the students’ feedback on RateMyProfessor.com on his teaching philosophy, style, and clear grading criteria, Dr. Chong was voted the top 10 Accounting Professor in Texas in 2015. Besides teaching and research, Dr. Chong is the Director of the Executive MBA Program at the College of Business. The Program caters to junior/mid-tier executives, managers, and business leaders with 3 to 5 years of leadership experience.
